A little about your Camp Pastor: Wendy Riddle
"I'm a forever child of the church, who intentionally decided on both the Jesus Way and the United Methodist church when I was old enough to get a clue. (That continues to evolve.) I've spent eight years in the U.S. Army - four going to school to get a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, and four as an Army Health Nurse. (Think community health.)
I was going to make the military a career, when my husband's parents called and asked us to buy the family farm. We did, so I farmed for eighteen years outside of our home town of Sunnyside. I also worked as a School Nurse Practitioner, the director of heath for Migrant Education for the state, and an immunization consultant. I stayed home for two or three years, which included a brief stint as a homeschool mom, then sent my son back to the public schools. Next thing I knew, I was being called into ministry.
I took LIMPOP training (now CLM), then went into candidacy with a local pastorate as my goal. I was appointed to Riverview UMC in 1998, so our family moved to Pasco. I pastored there for twelve years, building up the church over that time. After losing both parents at the same time we went through a building project, I was ready for a break, so stepped aside so the church could move into its new future, with new energy.
Currently I'm traveling with my sisters, boating and camping with my
husband, have taken up kayaking, and have re-established myself as a
rock hound. My greatest passion is gardening, and I've begun to
play with photography. What's next? Anything seems
possible!”
