Our
Leaders In Training
program is designed to help teens develop their leadership skills
and give them a chance to put their new found and improved skills
into practice.Teens will be
immersed in a training program learning the skills needed by Camp
Counselors including risk management, leadership, and organization.
They will learn these skills in a variety of ways including
participating in workshops, doing mock interviews, observing Camp
Counselors, assisting in group games, and working as their own
united team.
LITs have a job description with clear
expectations. As a part of their training, they will do a placement
interview which will provide feedback and determine whether they
have met expectations and be placed at their camp of choice to
volunteer later this summer. We hope that through this training,
LITs will be ready to volunteer to assist with one week of
primary or younger
elementary camps at one of our four sites (placement is not
guaranteed).
Lazy F Camp wants LITs not only to come away
with new skills that can help them to develop as leaders and as
young people but to have had fun learning as a team! It’s hard work,
but it’s worth it!
